What are your opening hours?
E & A Wates furniture showroom is open Monday - Saturday
9.30am-5.30pm
, closed on Bank Holidays.
Our restoration workshop is open weekdays only, please call in advance if you wish to collect restored or reupholstered furniture on a Saturday.

Accessibility and customer facilities
Our showroom is arranged over four floors and we do not have a lift. There is step-free access to the restoration workshop and the ground floor of our showroom from our customer car park. We have a customer toilet and parents' room on the second floor of the showroom.

Is the interior design library open to everybody?
Yes, anyone can come and browse in our sample rooms and order through us.

Do you deliver?
E & A Wates usually make collections and deliveries on Thursdays, between 9-5pm we will let you know a few days in advance but please call us if you have a preferred time slot. Sometimes the day may vary for reasons beyond our control. Customers can drop off and collect
anytime during opening hours, please use the customer car park behind our showroom.

Is the restoration workshop open to the public?
We have held open days when our craftspeople demonstrate cabinet repair and restoration, French polishing, gilding, caning and reupholstery. Future events will be listed on What's New and emailed to our design club, please sign up if you would like to hear from us.

Do I need to have a home visit to get an estimate?
Please email us a photo with rough measurements to get a guide to costs. If you wish to go ahead we will make an appointment to take measurements.

Do you make curtains?
Yes, we make and install soft furnishings including loose covers, curtains, blinds and cushions.

Can I book an interior design event?
Yes, boutique events can be arranged, please get in touch.

When do I need to place my order for Christmas delivery?
Generally, you need to order bespoke items by the end of October. However any upholstery, furniture or accessories in our showroom can be taken away immediately.

I like to support local businesses. Are there any benefits?
As an independent retailer we offer extra special discounts to our neighbours from time-to-time. Please contact Furzedown Community Network (FCN) via their website to find out how to join their membership scheme or join at E & A Wates (cash only) when you make your purchase.

I have replaced my furniture, what should I do with my old pieces?
We can advise you of various ways to reuse, repurpose or restore your furniture, please ask!
